About This Spot

Benno's Cajun Seafood Restaurant feels like a down-to-earth local gem tucked along the lively stretch of Seawall Boulevard in Galveston. Step inside and you’re greeted by a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere where the pace slows just enough to savor each moment and every bite. The hum of friendly conversations blends with the occasional laughter and the welcoming smiles of a staff that clearly knows the value of genuine hospitality.

The simple charm of Benno’s lies not in fancy decor or polished dining rooms but in its honest approach to Cajun and Creole flavors, served up fresh and flavorful with a side of waterfront views. It’s a spot where families, island regulars, and casual visitors alike gather to enjoy hearty, comforting plates that echo the rich culinary traditions of the Gulf Coast. The experience is unmistakably warm and inviting, a place where you can linger over a boil of crawfish, savor the crunch of perfectly fried shrimp, and share stories as the sea breeze drifts in.

More than just a meal, eating at Benno’s feels like becoming part of a small community, connected through the simple joy of well-prepared seafood and the easy rhythm of island time. The dining experience here encourages unhurried conversation and celebration of flavors that carry a sense of place—from Cajun potatoes to hush puppies with just the right touch of sweetness.

Whether you’re unwinding after a day on the beach or stopping by to taste a true Galveston classic, Benno’s offers the kind of genuine comfort food served with care and a quiet kindness. It’s a local spot where the food’s modest charm and friendly pace invite you to slow down and enjoy your surroundings as much as the meal itself.

We stopped by at this place at the end of trip. This is one of the places we tried in our trip, this place stood out in quality of place. Have good amount of parking.

The fried shrimp, hush puppies, and fries were better than expected. The shrimp were lightly fried and looked to be battered fresh. The coleslaw was also fresh. I will say the Cajun grilled shrimp didn’t have much flavor. The place is not super clean but the staff was friendly and you get a good view of the water.

Get you some fried blue crabs! These folks do it right! (Bring nut crackers, their wooden mallets don't always do the trick.) Grilled oysters and fried shrimp are highly recommended too! Great hush puppies and tasty Cole slaw. I've always enjoyed what I was served here!

The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive and kind. They made me feel welcome. It was my first time there and will be returning!

We went on a weekday so it wasn't busy at all. The service was casual, the food was casual and good, the views were the best, as it should be during the week on Island time.

Great local place for seafood & Cajun. Had the Cajun Grilled Talopia with corn on the cob & slaw. Fish cooked & seasoned excellent. Corn was sweet & properly cooked. Wife had the Cajun Grilled Shrimp. Again, seasoning & cooked properly. Shrimp was above average size. Also the Key Lime Pie was good. Outdoor seating available with good views of the Gulf.

WHEW! I left this place astounded and very full! Enjoyed some delicious fried king crab, with very hearty portions! Fries were incredible and prices were normal! Watching seagulls attempt to steal food of the patio customers was great entertainment! 10/10 come see this place.
